Woman Arrested For Animal Cruelty

One witness saw a woman toss a little dog into a recycle bin. The little dog tried to jump out when the woman pushed it down and shut the bin cover. Luckily one of our volunteers happened to be driving by as this happened. Our volunteer quickly swung her car around over a curb to confront the woman. Numerous witnesses gathered around the scene just as the police pulled up and arrested the woman.

Krissy (named after our volunteer) was unaware of the atrocity that just occurred. She was just happy she was so much attention. What could have been the worse day in Krissy’s life became the best thing that ever happened to her. She is now in our care. Krissy’s pre-Lucky Dog Rescue life is a giant question mark. We surmised it was a less than ideal life since her owner was willing to throw her out in the trash. But her life will change drastically now. We will make sure she is healthy and happy before she is placed in the very perfect forever home.

Krissy has proven to be a very sweet dog. She gets along with other dogs, loves to play and is very good with kids. Don’t worry Krissy, we have your back now!

The Journey of Our Bulldogs

It has been 4 months since we rescued Lola and Henry. Lola just had her second knee surgery and is resting comfortably. Henry is also doing very well.

LolaandHenry

Lola’s and Henry’s story:

Lola and Henry were roaming the streets in the Central Valley and we rescued them in February. They are charismatic, fun, and extremely friendly. We soon discovered they were not only homeless, underweight and have kennel cough, they were diagnosed with many other serious conditions.

It was obvious Lola’s back legs were very unstable. She had difficulty standing on wood floors, managing stairs and walking. X rays confirmed she had ruptured cruciate ligaments in BOTH knees. Surgery must be done one knee at a time. Each surgery requires 6-8 weeks of recovery. Her activity must be closely monitored after the surgery.

We suspect Lola was used to breed puppies. This little mama had to go through her pregnancies, care for her puppies, and then have her puppies taken away while living with her painful ruptured knee ligaments. Yet she impressed us with her jovial disposition and obvious appreciation of having a soft bed to sleep (and snore) on.

Henry, our very own 4 legged Steph Curry, loves to play basketball. But he was going blind and needed eye surgery to pursue his basketball career. 🙂 He also has a broken tooth and ear infections which required medical attention.

The cost to give Lola and Henry pain-free and healthy lives will be around $10,000!! It was never a question whether we will spend $10,000 to bring them back to health, why wouldn’t we when the prognosis is so favorable? Lola and Henry are only between 2-3 years old and they have many more years of living to look forward to. We began immediate fundraising efforts to help fund for their care.

Henry and Lola probably made a lot of money for his former owners when their puppies were sold. But they didn’t have the decency to give Henry and Lola their needed medical attention. It is now up to us to do the right thing.

Stay tuned for this pair of Bulldogs’ progress and their journey to find their forever homes.

Are you in search of an uber-smart, sweet, eager to please pooch? Winnie could be the one! At 3 years old, Winnie has already mastered many tricks, is crate trained, loves to go on walks but also loves to snuggle and nap.

Winnie was originally rescued from a rundown shelter at 7 weeks old. Her family had to move and can no longer keep her. Winnie will bring much joy to a family and could do well with a very well matched dog or could even be an only dog.

As with many of our pit bull type breeds, we are looking for a breed savvy home who is committed to providing a happy home with structure and to provide lots of interaction with rules and rewards.

Winnie is current on vaccinations, spayed and has been microchipped.

Please share a bit about the home you would provide when inquiring about Winnie. For more information please contact: krissyrobbins@gmail.com

Coby is a shy boy when you first meet him. But his happy little personality reveals itself once he gets to know you. Once he learns he can trust you, he will love you forever. He is game for playtime anytime, but enjoys his cuddle time too. Coby is a wonderful walking buddy and is approximately 2 years old even though he is playful like a puppy. This affectionate 10 lb. boy is also crate trained. For more information, contact Audrey 925-200-3102 or alennox609@comcast.net. Please share a little about your family when contacting us. A home visit is required prior to adoption.

McGee

from Michael Maloney PLUS 11 hours ago ALL AUDIENCES

Hi! I’m McGee. I’m a cute, affectionate, smart and energetic fella who loves to run and play or just hang out. My foster home is on an amazing ranch so sometimes I get overwhelmed by the naughty birds and squirrels who taunt me and I chase them if given the chance! (But I’m working on not doing that so much.)

I’m told I’m perfect in the car during rides and sleep well through the night in my crate. I like to carry my toys around and enjoy a nice helping of peanut butter from time to time.

I probably won’t do well with a cat or young kids because I can get excited easily. I do have to take anti-anxiety medicine every day (but it’s not expensive) so I I would love to be in a calmer, quieter home with parents who have time to spend with me during the day.

I may not be perfect but dog gone it, who is? I’m cute and smart and if you’re willing to work with my tiny quirks, it’ll be worth all the love I will give you in return! Pooches promise!

I am neutered, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and healthy.
